ROfE
- Regional Office for Europe
|
The
Regional Office for Europe (ROfE) is a branch of the IUCN global
network. The head office, located in Brussels, is a meeting point
where the IUCN Office for Central Europe in Warsaw and the IUCN
Office for the Commonwealth of Independent States in Moscow can
disseminate information and strategies.
A large portion of European forest activities
have been supporting the IUCN
Temperate and Boreal Forest Programme. Some activities have
included implementing the IUCN-CIDA project entitled: Building
Partnership in Forest Conservation and Management in Russia,
developing a multinational strategy for the sustainable use and
conservation of the mountain forests in CIS countries and preserving
Indigenous Peoples Knowledge and Traditional Use of Nature Resources
in Altai Mountains (tubalars, chalkans, kumandins) through the elaboration
of a research-based strategy for local development, nature resource
utilisation and nature conservation using a participatory approach.
