A New Era of IUCN Partnership in Protected Areas in KSA The National Commission for Wildlife Conservation and Development (NCWCD) in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the IUCN WESCANA Regional Office signed a Memorandum of Understanding that deepens a partnership built up over 20 years of technical collaboration in protected areas management . The long-term objective of the MOU is to promote the conservation of nature and the equitable and ecologically sustainable use of natural resources in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The strategic partnership between IUCN and NCWCD is to support ; technical assistance in developing and implementing projects and programmes at the national level, promoting the exchange of information and experiences on environment and sustainable development and promoting and developing cooperative activities for environment and sustainable development. Through this engagement in Saudi Arabia and other on-going initiatives in Oman, Yemen, Egypt, Central Asia and Syria, IUCN WESCANA Regional Office intends to capitalize on the diversity and richness of regional experience in protected area management and build long-lasting partnerships.
