Programme Coordination
The Programme Coordination
Unit has been instrumental in providing programme design
and development services. Two
of IUCN-P’s key programme achievements, namely the
Biodiversity Action Plan (BAP) proposal and the framework
agreement with NORAD were made possible through the PCU’s
active involvement and support. The PCU provides a range
of activities including technical support and advice; coordination
between projects and thematic programmes; assistance in the
development of monitoring and assessment systems and budgeting
and planning. The programme coordination function has operated
both in a technical assistance and quality control mode and
has made major contributions to programme development and
coordination.
The Programme Coordination
Unit also contributed to IUCN's programme development capacity
in the region by undertaking a review of the Sri Lanka
office and of a major initiative for the Bangladesh National
Conservation Strategy.
