IUCNP Law Programme starts classes on Environmental Law
By Huma Ikramullah

Karachi, Sept 1: In order to promote Environmental Law in tertiary level institutes IUCNP Environmental Law Programme has started classes on environmental law in collaboration with Hamdard Law College.

Environmental Law has been introduced in Pakistan as an optional subject in LL.B Part III but yet it is not an accredited course therefore, most of the students are unaware of the importance of environmental laws. These classes are in the nature of introductory classes for LL.B II students so that their interest is developed to such an extent that if next year it becomes an accredited course they take it up as an optional subject. For carrying forward this objective the expertise of the IUCNP will be utilized.

All the documentaries of IUCNP will be screened in order to make the course more interesting and lively for the students. Field trips and visits to the concerned institution have also been planned.

The introductory class was held in which the reading material was distributed and a documentary made by IUNP Sindh programme ‘Sindh-Land of the Indus' was screened. Mr. Nasir Ali Panhwar and Huma Ikramullah jointly took the first class.
