A
meeting of Sustainable Development Forum
of district Qila Saifullah was held on November
23. District Nazim Maulvi Anwar-ud-Din chaired
the meeting. The district coordinator IUCN
Qila Saifullah briefed the audience about
the process adopted for IDV preparation.
He informed that on the basis of available
secondary data and through consultations
with all the stakeholders in the district,
the consultant has prepared a draft of State
of Environment and Development (SoED) of
the district. Now it is time to discuss the
SoED and get the feedback, he added.
The Consultant Abdul Latif Rao, while presenting
the first draft of the document, highlighted
major gaps in the available data. He said
that correct information was necessary for
proper planning. After his presentation a
session of questions and answer was held.
The participants took keen interest in the
document and asked different questions about
different parts of the SoED.
The district Nazim, in his speech appreciated
the work of IUCN for supporting the district
government in preparation of Integrated Development
Vision. He directed all the concerned EDOs
and other officials to thoroughly check the
draft especially their relevant sectors and
directed them to give their inputs.
The forum was attended by elected representatives,
local leaders of different political parties,
EDOs of various departments, District Managers
of Non Governmental Organizations, academia,
media persons and office bearers of CBOs.
