Training on project planning

Quetta, June 20-25: IUCNP BPO organized a six-day training event on Project Planning and PC-I and PC-II Preparation. Muhammad Akram Swati, a senior trainer and ex-chief economist, was the resource person. Sixteen participants from different government departments including Department of Fisheries, Social Welfare Department, PHED, Health department, EPA, S&GAD, QDA, Agriculture and Irrigation Department participated. Participants were able to learn the concepts about various phases of the Project Cycle and other planning techniques including:

1) Identification 2) Formulation 3) Appraisal 4) Time Value of money 5) Cost-Benefit Analysis 6) Discounted measures of project worth 7) Economic analysis of the project and 8) evaluation of the project.

Last day of the training constituted a session on incorporating environmental concerns into project planning. Dr. Muhammad Irfan Khan delivered a detailed lecture on the same. All the participants took great interest in the practical exercises given by the resource persons. This course was one of the series of trainings started from the beginning of current year. This was the third of its kind and was very successful in clearing the concepts of good project planning. Participants appreciated the initiative of IUCNP Balochistan Programme for providing opportunities to learn project planning skills.
