Updates on Natura 2000 Financing
The European Commission announced that in its next budgetary
period (2007 – 2013), it will take an integrated approach
to financing Natura 2000, with financing opportunities becoming
available under the following EU budgets: Rural Development,
Structural/Regional, Fisheries and Environment (called LIFE+).
We are sending email updates to our members on each of these,
as the relevant Financial Regulations are adopted by the EU.

Future EU Development
Co-operation Funding for Environment and Natural Resources
(2007 – 2013)
On 23rd November 2005, IUCN, together with Birdlife International,
WWF, FERN, IFAW, Conservation International, CAN-Europe and
IIED, sent a contribution to the consultation organised by
the European Commission (EC) on the Thematic Programme on
Environmental and Natural Resources in EC External Relations
(view
PDF). The EC is now drafting a Communication to be sent
to the European Parliament and the European Council early
2006. After internal EC approval, the Communication will be
presented to the working group which involves the civil society,
before being sent to the EP and the Council. We will keep
you updated of its progress.
Future Environment Funding (LIFE+)
Future EU funding from DG Environment for implementing EU environmental policy will be available from the new budgetline LIFE+. For more information please see: LIFE+
For more information on the amendments to the LIFE+ proposal which were adopted by the European Parliament on the 23rd October, please visit this following link.
European Neighbourhood Partnership Instrument
