At its inception in
1985, the EARO became
IUCN's first Regional
Office worldwide.
The Secretariat is
complemented by the
Uganda Country Office
(UCO) in Kampala and
by a country office
in Tanzania (TCO).
Our mandate includes
planning and implementation
of the Eastern Africa
Regional Programme
(EARP); support to
the IUCN Members and
Commissions; and representation
of the IUCN Union
in Eastern Africa.
Highly qualified and
dedicated staff work
together, under the
leadership of the
Regional Representative,
and the Programme
Coordinator, to fulfill
the mandate and support
the mission of the
Union.
