IUCN takes you to Hungary!
This month the IUCN National Committee and Member organizations in Hungary showcase their activities and achievements in nature conservation in the second edition of the IUCN European Country Focus.
Hungary is quite rich in biodiversity – there are 10 national parks, 145 minor nature reserves, 35 landscape protection areas and numerous protected species. The IUCN National Committee in the country unites six Member organizations and some 60 scientists who are individual members in one or another of the six Commissions of IUCN.
In this edition of the Focus we look at the Hungarian Capital of Biodiversity competition held in 2010 and 2011, the latest activities of the Hungarian Ornithological and Nature Conservation Society, the Göncöl Foundation, the National Society of Conservationists, the Nimfea Nature Conservation Association, and of some experts of the IUCN Commission on Education and Communication.
