Sharing MWD knowledge with our regional neighbors
As part of a country-to-country learning exchange, MWD and IUCN Thailand arranged a study tour for a project team from Bangladesh to Doi Mae Salong in Chiang Rai Province, Thailand.
Between 26-29 May the group toured a variety of field sites to learn about river basin management and environmental conservation, including watershed rehabilitation.
Additional areas of interest included local poverty reduction strategies, and river and wetland management in the Mekong basin in northern Thailand, in particular Ramsar site management.
The members of the project team ranged from community fishermen to national government representatives and came from the Tanguar Haor community-based sustainable management project; a collaborative project that is co-managed by IUCN Bangladesh. Tanguar Haor is Bangladesh’s largest wetland, located in the north-east of the country.
