The European Conservation Forum opens its doors in two weeks!

23 August 2011 | News story

The IUCN European Conservation Forum will start on Tuesday 6 and last until Friday 9 September 2011. It will be a major event to discuss the way forward for biodiversity in Europe.

“Switch to action!” is the leading theme of the Forum. The event will help highlight the need for increased efforts to translate commitments into concrete conservation action. It will provide a platform for numerous actors within the IUCN family and beyond to get together and discuss how to put in practice the biodiversity measures agreed in Europe.

The event is a formal part of the IUCN institutional process to adopt the new Global Programme 2013-2016. Its objectives are to:

  • Identify priorities and tools for nature in Europe and beyond
  • Define IUCN work and key programme areas in Europe
  • Promote involvement of and cooperation with the IUCN constituency

Thanks to the kind support of the City administration co-hosting the event, the Forum will take place at the Wissenschaftszentrum in Bonn, Germany.

Please note that the event is by invitation only. Participation is limited to IUCN constituency.
