IUCN joins Green Spider Network

15 December 2011 | News story

IUCN has recently become part of the Green Spider Network which joins communicators from all corners of the European Union.

The Green Spider Network is an active network of communication and information officers from environment ministries and national environmental agencies of EU Member States. It was established in 1995 and is supported by the Directorate-General for the Environment of the European Commission.

The Network aims to promote relations between the EU administration and national institutions and to provide a platform for the exchange of information and experience in the field of environmental communication.

IUCN has joined the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the Swiss Federal Office for the Environment and the Nordic Council of Ministers as observers in the Network.

Participation in this group will allow IUCN to maintain close ties with all 27 Member States, many of which are also IUCN Members, and partners. IUCN will share its experience and benefit from other’s experience in communicating nature in Europe.

See here for more details on the network.
