CEC Steering Committee Meeting in Aviemore
28 April 2010 | News story
A productive meeting in Aviemore, Scotland, yielded concrete action plans for the coming year. Also productive was the volcanic eruption beneath Iceland's Eyjafjallajokull glacier, which yeilded an ash cloud that forced airspace closures across northern Europe. Travel delays affected many CEC members, all now safely home.
Members of the IUCN Commission on Education and Communication gathered in Aviemore, Scotland, for a Steering Committee meeting 14-16 April 2010. CEC Regional Vice-Chairs and Specialty Group Leaders identified strategies and outcomes related to the IYB, Congress in Korea, and how to manage conservation knowledge to achieve results for IUCN.
Following on this event, CEC Chair Keith Wheeler and several CEC members participated in the IUCN UK National Committee meeting in Edinburgh, where CEC offered a CEPA workshop on Communication, Education and Public Awareness. The Chair thanked the UK Committee for extending hospitality to CEC members delayed in Scotland by the volcanic eruption in Iceland.
