"Voting on REDD": The essential ingredients needed for a successful REDD recipe?

30 January 2009 | News story

IUCN has just published the results from a "Cast your Vote Live" workshop held at the World Conservation Congress in Barcelona, October 2008, in which participants were asked several questions relating to REDD.

Although it was acknowledged that one REDD recipe does not fit all situations and that different approaches are needed in different contexts, participants were very clear on what must be included and planned for at the local, national and international levels if REDD is to become a viable option by 2012. The responses also highlighted that the ingredients considered most important by participants are already the focus of IUCN's work. Read opinions from the international panelists and about the steps some countries are taking to prepare themselves for REDD.
