Build the capacities for a better follow-up of the ecosystems in Africa

On October 25th and 26th, 2008, a workshop was organized in Accra, Ghana to build the capacities of the actors on the analysis of satellite data and visualization for a follow-up of the ecosystems.

The participants who came from some twenty African countries and many specialized organizations trained in the new techniques of data and satellite images analysis to better communicate environmental information in support to the reporting and decision-making processes. The methodologies and technologies developed in the framework of the production of the Environmental Atlas for Africa “Africa: Atlases off our Changing Environment” were also presented. The workshop was organized by the United Nations Program for the Environment (PNUE).
