Increased population pressure on natural resources in North Africa

The pressure of an increasing population is putting excessive demands on the natural resources of the region of North Africa, according to Dr Abderrahmen Gannoun, Director of the Regional Activity Centre for Specially Protected Areas, based in Tunisia.

Attending IUCN's North Africa Members' Forum in Rabat, Morocco, Dr Gannoun explains what are the main problems facing the region on an environmental level.

Dr Gannoun also wants to see governments giving an economic value to nature, valueing its service for humanity.
