Rabat, 13-15 May 2014 - Rabat hosted the first Mediterranean Forest Communicators workshop on 13-15 May 2014 where more than 25 experts, administration’s representants and journalists from 10 different countries gathered in order to exchange knowledge and experiences.

Organized by the FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations) and the GIZ (German Federal Enterprise for International Cooperation), this meeting aimed to answer a special need: to reinforce the capacities of forest communication in the Mediterranean and the Middle-East in order to support the policies and strategies that address the main challenges and threats in the region. This workshop permitted to pool together every experience from each participant in order to identify the best practices and tools to implement efficiently communication campaigns and projects in the forest field. The goal of this exchange of knowledge is to develop a networking system, which take the form of a platform.

Eventually, this workshop permitted the creation of a network: the “Forest Communicators Network for the Mediterranean and Middle East”. The latter will be managed by a “Steering Committee”, which will define the network objectives and operating. The IUCN Centre for Mediterranean Cooperation has joint this network.
