United Nations Urged to host Special Session

Now, more than ever before, humanity needs a global organization to consider, confront and overcome looming global challenges mentioned ubiquitously by the contributors to this discussion. The only organization to which the human community can turn is the UN. Thankfully, this great international institution is blessed with a rare, pre-eminent leader, Mr. Kofi Annan. His experience of a lifetime, strength of character, clarity of mind and coherence of vision prepare him well for leadership of the UN during these challenging times. Let us reach out to this splendid UN Secretary-General during his current term in office and ask the great man to assemble the great nations on Earth for the expressed purpose of discussing the issues being presented here so ably by many people.

Of course, Dr. Jeffrey McNeely and IUCN deserve special for many years of service in behalf of humanity, biodiversity and the integrity of Earth.
