The Reuters – IUCN Media Awards is a worldwide competition in environmental journalism to recognise excellence in professional reporting on environmental and sustainable development issues; and foster a dialogue between journalists and experts to encourage informative reporting based on sound scientific data.
The Awards are open to journalists in print and online news services throughout the world. Journalists are invited to submit entries related to environment and sustainable development.
The global winner, selected from six regional winners, receives a cash prize of US$5,000. The six regional winners receive a trophy and a travel grant to attend the global awards ceremony in October 2008.

Los Premios al Periodismo Reuters-UICN es un concurso mundial de periodismo ambiental que procura reconocer la excelencia profesional en el reportaje de temas de medio ambiente y desarrollo sostenible; así como fomentar un diálogo entre periodistas y expertos para promover la investigación periodística basada en datos científicos.
El concurso está abierto a periodistas de medios escritos y electrónicos (Internet) en todo el mundo, a los cuales se les invita a enviar sus trabajos relacionados con los temas indicados.
El ganador mundial se escogerá entre seis finalistas regionales y recibirá un premio en efectivo de US$5.000. Los ganadores regionales recibirá un trofeo y, al igual que el ganador global, asistencia financiera para asistir a la ceremonia internacional de entrega de premios en octubre del 2008.

Les Prix Reuters-UICN pour les médias et l’environnement sont ouverts aux journalistes de la presse écrite et des services d’information en ligne du monde entier.
Les journalistes peuvent présenter articles liés à l’environnement et au développement durable.
Le lauréat mondial, sélectionné parmi les six lauréats régionaux, recevra un prix de 5 000 US$. Les six lauréats régionaux seront récompensés par un trophée et une dotation pour les frais de voyage afin d’assister à la cérémonie mondiale de remise du prix qui aura lieu octobre 2008.
