Unclipping the wings of birds of prey by teaching them how to fly
Birds of prey which have always been held in captivity often don’t have the opportunity or skills to spread their wings and take to the skies. Jacques-Olivier Travers, from the bird of prey centre in Les Aigles du Leman in Haute Savoie in France, has become famous for teaching birds at the centre to fly and regain their freedom. Here you can see him fly over the top of Mont Blanc in the French Alps on a paraglider with one of his protégés, Sherkan, a 15 year-old bald eagle, showing the bond of man and beast can conquer the greatest of challenges. …
