Assessment and perspectives for forest management in Cameroon

Deliberations of the 3rd national forum on Cameroon forests took place from 29th to 31st March, 2010 in Yaounde under the theme “15 years of forestry reforms: assessment, evolution and perspectives”.

Under the very distinguished patronage of the Head of State, His Excellency Paul Biya, the opening ceremony of this Forum was chaired by the representative of the Prime Minister, Head of Government, the Minister of Forestry and Wildlife, Prof. Elvis Ngolle Ngolle. Close to 400 participants discussed forest management of the past fifteen years.

At the end of the forum deliberations, “The Declaration of the Forum” was drafted by all the participants and read during the closing ceremony. The manual of procedures for the attribution of community forests was also solemnly submitted by civil society.

Several recommendations were formulated.
