03 December 2013 | News story
World Water Week is an annual conference addressing the world’s most urgent water-related challenges. For the 2014 conference, IUCN will be one of the three collaborating partners for the global meeting.
Each year, the conference brings together over 2,500 experts, practitioners, decision-makers and business innovators from around the globe to exchange ideas, foster new thinking and develop solutions for water.
Along with the World Bank and Sustainable Energy For All, IUCN will help shape and support the World Water Week (WWW) 2014 in partnership with the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI). In 2013 the conference three collaborating partners were WWF, the Global Water Partnership and WBCSD. The overarching conclusions of WWW 2013 with theme 'Water Cooperation - Building Partnerships' can be found here.
World Water Week 2014 will l be held under the theme of energy and water. Global demand for energy as well as water is booming and demand for both is projected to increase by 50 per cent over the coming decades. Water is vital for the production of energy and energy is indispensable for water provision. For participation and involvement, a recent Call for Abstracts and Event Proposals was launched and deadline for submissions is January 19, 2014.
World Water Week will take place from August 31 - September 5, 2014 in Stockholm, Sweden.
