New Name .. New Logo… New Website!
We’re simplifying our name; we are just IUCN. If you need to explain, it stands for the International Union for Conservation of Nature. We’ve confused many people for many years with our two names: IUCN or the World Conservation Union.
This year we turn 60. We’re still full of energy, intellect and passion about the environment, but what better way to look forward to the next 60 years than with a new face. So from today we also have a new simpler logo. March 10th saw our new logo launched in IUCN Head Quarters in Gland. IUCN President Valli Moosa, Vice President Javed Jabbar and Director General Julia Marton-Lefèvre raised the new UICN flag outside the main HQ building. However, we will continue working on the world’s most complex environment and development issues. Our scientists and experts will continue to define conservation standards for the world. And we’ll continue working from the village to the presidential palace to the UN General Assembly to build bridges and find pragmatic solutions to our most pressing sustainable development challenges.
The IUCN website has a new look now as well. It has a new structure and runs on a completely new content management platform. The new system will help us to better communicate with external audiences by making information sharing easier and by having a consistent look and feel. Watch for new functionality and ways of better engaging members, Commissions and partners over the coming year. Over 100 IUCN staff members around the world worked hard to migrate to the new system: to all a huge thanks, merci, and gracias!
