State of the Gulf of Mexico - Summit II
Hosted by the Harte Research Institute

December 4 - 8, 2011
Omni Galleria Hotel
Houston, Texas

The Harte Research Institute (HRI) is planning a second State of the Gulf Summit along with several partners: Gulf of Mexico Foundation, Gulf of Mexico University Research Collaborative, International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), The Gulf of Mexico Alliance, and The Nature Conservancy (TNC).

The Summit seeks to bring together the diverse array of actors working in the Gulf of Mexico towards restoration from the Deepwater Horizon oil spill and prior environmental degradation. Many prominent players from a range of non-governmental organizations (NGOs), the federally appointed Restoration Task Force, and the Natural Resource Damage Assessment (NRDA) process are expected to attend, including, notably, Administrator of NOAA, Dr. Jane Lubchenco. This summit will provide an ideal platform to develop a shared vision of a healthy Gulf, allowing government, NGO, academic, and international experts to share knowledge and formulate a roadmap for restoration.
