25 November 2008 | News story

The new IUCN Environment and Development group  held its first meeting 13-14 November to discuss efficient integration of the group’s common goals. This newly created cluster comprises the Forest and Water Programme, Ecosystem Management Programme, and Senior Advisor Social Policy  and Gender together to allign their work and deliver the IUCN key result areas.

During the two days the different members and staff from the various programmes discussed their main aims and achievements, expectations and basic operations. Building on eachother’s strengths by joining forces, the Environment and Development group will focus more strongly on its network-based delivery. These joined networks will ensure improved implementation of IUCN’s thematic priority areas.
