Sustainable Use and Livelihoods (SULi) Specialist Group update:

CEESP News - by Dr Rebecca Cross, Programme Officer, SULi

In the last 6 months, SULi has revised its strategy due to an urgent need to build understanding and awareness of the role and importance of sustainable use of wild resources and the livelihoods it supports, among the mainstream conservation community in particular.

SULi’s strategy is now focused less on high level policy engagement and more on communicating and increasing understanding of basic messages about sustainable use and livelihoods.

To achieve this, SULi has been focused on operationalising regional SULi groups, with an East and Southern Africa meeting held in Zimbabwe in May of this year (read the full report here) and a Central Asia meeting planned for later this year.

SULi also relaunched its newsletter, which includes a summary of recent SULi publications and an array of case studies on sustainable use.  Please click on the link to read these articles SULiNews Issue 11 (August 2017).
