La UICN tiene oficinas en más de 45 países y maneja cientos de proyectos alrededor del mundo. Tenemos organizaciones miembros en más de 160 países y una red de más de 10.000 científicos voluntarios repartidos por el mundo. Los miembros dentro de un país o una región se agrupan generalmente en Comités Nacionales o Regionales para promover y cooperar con el trabajo de la Unión.
África central y occidental
Le Programme pour l’Afrique Centrale et Occidentale (PACO) est né de la fusion des programmes Afrique Centrale et Afrique de l’Ouest.
Son unité de coordination (le bureau régional) est basée à Ouagadougou au Burkina Faso. Ce nouveau programme régional comprend 26 Etats dont 17 en Afrique de l’Ouest et 9 en Afrique Centrale.
África meridional y oriental
IUCN has been working in Eastern and Southern Africa for several decades and officially opened its offices in the region in the 1980s, pioneering a number of conservation initiatives.
The IUCN East and Southern Africa Regional Office (ESARO) works across 22 countries in the Horn of Africa, East Africa, Southern Africa and the Western Indian Ocean.

IUCN Washington, D.C. is comprised of many programmes and missions, reflective of IUCN’s multifaceted approach to biodiversity conservation. The programmes and initiatives include:
UN Permanent Observer, Forest Programme, Global Marine and Polar Programme (GMPP), DC Marine Community, Islands Programme, and Species and Biodiversity Programme.
Sudamérica
La Secretaría Global de la UICN estableció la Oficina Regional Sudamericana (UICN-Sur), en Quito, en octubre de 1991, gracias a la invitación del Gobierno de Ecuador.
La UICN-Sur ha trabajado junto con sus miembros organizacionales, alrededor de 100, y especialistas de comisiones, cerca de 1.000, en la implementación de un programa de trabajo que responde a las necesidades de la región y a la problemática ambiental global.
Mesoamérica
Trabajando de manera integrada desde una plataforma matricial, la UICN- Mesoamérica pone en funcionamiento su programa de trabajo con el apoyo de cuatro unidades de trabajo.
Estas cuantro unidades se compactan para alcanzar un trabajo integral que incorpore las variables sociales, político-institucionales y ambientales que garanticen el mayor éxito posible en las iniciativas impulsadas por la Oficina Regional para Mesoamérica.
Asia
The IUCN Asia Regional Office (ARO) provides coordination and support for the region.
The Country Offices and The Ecosystems and Livlihoods Group (ELG)implement the IUCN Programme and Strategy in collaboration with project partners, and with its state and NGO members.
Asia occidental/ Medio oriente
The IUCN West Asian region comprises of 13 countries including:
Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, the Occupied Palestinian Territory, the Syrian Arab Republic, Yemen and Iran in addition to the Gulf countries including Bahrain, Oman, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates.
Europa
IUCN’s European Region covers the whole of Europe, Russia, Central Asia and the overseas territories of European Union Countries.
This is IUCN’s largest programmatic region and contains three global biodiversity hotspots - the Mediterranean basin, the Caucasus and New Caledonia (a French overseas territory).
Mediterráneo
During the 2nd World Conservation Congress in Amman (Jordan), the members finalised the programme and on 5 December 2000 the IUCN Mediterranean office was inaugurated
The Goal of the IUCN Centre for Mediterranean Cooperation is to influence, encourage and assist Mediterranean societies in achieving both the conservation and sustainable use of natural resources, and sustainable development.
Oceanía
Oceania is geographically one of IUCN’s largest regional programmes, covering over 100 million square kilometres of the Pacific Ocean.
The region comprises three distinct sub-regions (Melanesia, Micronesia and Polynesia), 22 countries and territories, and a total population estimated at 8.6 million in 2004.
