Training local communities on gender and climate change in Jordan
Amman, Jordan, 1 August 2010 – Realizing the negative impacts of natural disasters and environmental changes on vulnerable communities and the essential role that women can play in reducing those vulnerabilities, IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) and the Arab Women Organization in Jordan recently conducted a training course on gender and climate change for community based organizations (CBOs) and women groups, empowering them to be the catalysts of change in their communities. The training was held from Aug. 1-5, 2010 in Jordan and was funded by the Global Women Fund. …
