Communicating Protected Areas: CEC and WCPA join Futerra to plan marketing

A new global awareness campaign is the aim of a marking meeting organized by CEC Special Advisor Frits Hesselink and CEC member Laurie Bennet of Futerra with managers of protected areas from WCPA.

For the IUCN Commission on Education and Communication (CEC) and the IUCN World Commission on Protected Areas (WCPA), the desire to work collaboratively has its roots in a joint steering committee meeting in Ecuador several years ago. In February, the two Commissions met with marketing experts to seek more effective advocacy and awareness-raising on behalf of protected areas. The two-day meeting was hosted and facilitated by Futerra, a marketing agency specializing in communications for sustainability.
