Today, more than 10,000 people will participate in the opening of the 2012 tourist season in Velipojë. During this event, IUCN’s project, funded by the Italian Cooperation, is promoting the importance of protecting the natural beauty of the area, a popular beach destination for thousands of tourists each year.
IUCN’s project “Institutional Support for Protected Areas in Albania” promotes an innovative approach for the management of the Buna River protected site which aims to demonstrate the broad range of benefits from preserved and well-functioning ecosystems.
