The World Conservation Union

14 December 2007

IUCN has wrapped up a busy two weeks in Bali with Director General Julia Marton-Lefèvre addressing the high level segment of the UN Climate Change Conference this morning.

In her speech, Julia Marton-Lefèvre welcomed decisions at the conference on reducing emissions from deforestation and degradation (REDD) and the setting up of an adaptation fund.

IUCN committed to develop tools to measure biodiversity, and impacts on livelihoods, within the climate change framework, with a major milestone in this work being the upcoming IUCN World Conservation Congress in Barcelona next year.
