The GBF gathered more than a hundred actors from Latin America representing the private and public sector, NGO’s, regional experts, representatives from Academia, indigenous peoples and peasant communities. |

| The results of the Members' Business Assembly of the 3rd IUCN World Conservation Congress in Bangkok, where IUCN members debated and voted on 131 proposed Resolutions and Recommendations, are now available with the minutes of the sometimes heated discussions as well as the final text of the 118 Resolutions and Recommendations that were adopted. These guide the Union’s global programme of work on conservation and sustainable development, and voice the Union’s opinion on major conservation issues in all parts of the world. |

| Valli Moosa joined environment ministers and climate negotiators from 22 countries yesterday in Ilulissat, Greenland, for a dialogue on ways to tackle climate change. The Danish Environment Ministry organised the forum to continue the momentum begun at the G8 Summit in Scotland, in preparation for the UN Climate Change meeting later this year in Canada. |

Africa is the primary range of the lion Panthera leo, however living closely to lions poses hardship for many African communities. IUCN -The World Conservation Union, together with its Species Survival Commission, the Cat Specialist Group, the Wildlife Conservation Society, and the Africa Resources Trust, is holding a series of regional and Africa-wide lion management workshops. This initiative will allow range states, lion specialists, and other stakeholders to discuss lion threats and develop conservation recommendations, whilst establishing closer cooperation amongst Africans for the conservation of the species.

| IUCN participates at China’s first Forest Dialogue Forum |

The State Forestry Administration of China recently initiated its first ever Forest Dialogue Forum on issues related to China’s forest management. IUCN was invited to present their expertise on forest law enforcement and governance (FLEG), and forest landscape restoration (FLR). About 90 people from over 20 government agencies, NGOs, international aid agencies, and embassies participated in this two-day meeting, which was held from August 3 to 4, in Beijing.
