IUCN ANNOUNCES NEW CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER
The Director General of IUCN, Dr. Maritta R. von Bieberstein Koch-Weser, announced the appointment today of Ms. Véronique Lavorel as Chief Financial Officer, IUCN World Headquarters.
Véronique Lavorel, a French national, combines a background in finance with a degree in natural resource management. She is a graduate in agricultural and environment sciences from the Institut National Agronomique, Paris-Grignon (INA-PG), and in economics and statistics from the Ecole Nationale de la Statistique et de l’Administration Economique (ENSAE), Paris.
Her fifteen years at the World Bank, in particular as Director of the Investment Department from 1993 to 1996, have given her strong hands-on experience in financial monitoring. She subsequently joined UNDP as Director of Finance in 1996, and has been a member of UNDP’s Executive Committee for the past two years. Véronique Lavorel states that "one of the great joys of my career has been to discover how much I like leading and managing people" and this is reflected in the appreciation of her staff at UNDP.
Véronique Lavorel will take on her duties at IUCN on August 16th, 1999
