Kick-off meeting of the Swiss biodiversity science & policy community and IPBES

The meeting convened international experts, and key organisations and stakeholders in Switzerland, provided opportunities to learn more about IPBES, and to discuss potential contributions of the Biodiversity Science and Policy community of Switzerland for IPBES.

The participants considered the opportunities for Swiss scientists, policy makers, and organisations to take part in this huge effort to create an interface between biodiversity science and policy. They also looked at the experiences and lessons learned from previous assessments such as the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment and from IPCC, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.

The meeting was organized by the Swiss Federal Office for the Environment, FOEN, in collaboration with the Swiss Biodiversity Forum of the Academy of Sciences (SCNAT.
