Defining Protected Areas : An international conference in Almeria, Spain 2007

The “Categories Summit” which is reported in these proceedings was a major contribution to the revision of the IUCN protected area management categories.

The proceedings are published in a spirit of openness and to provide easy access to much of the background thinking that led to the revised publication.

The Summit took place in 2007, these proceedings are being published in 2008 as a source document at the same time as the revised categories.
