The World Conservation Union invites its members and partners to the Congress

IUCN is pleased to invite its members and partners to attend the next IUCN World Conservation Congress, to be hosted by the Ministry of Environment of Spain and the Ministry of Environment and Housing of Catalonia in Barcelona (5 to 14 October 2008). The Provisional Agenda for the Congress can be found here. The registration system for the Congress will open online in February 2008 under this website.

Key dates for contributions extended

The final deadline for proposals for the World Conservation Forum has been extended by one month until 31 October 2007. The deadline for announcement of successful applications in the first round has been extended until 30 September 2007.

530 proposals received in the first round of submissions to the World Conservation Congress

Three months ago, the World Conservation Union (IUCN) invited its member organizations, Commission members and partners to submit proposals for events at the World Conservation Congress. More than 650 people from 511 different organizations have followed this request so far and signed up to the Forum system.

During the Paris Conference for Global Ecological Governance, French President Jacques Chirac expressed support for the 4th IUCN World Conservation Congress (WCC). President Chirac conveyed his vision for the IUCN Congress to further ecological governance globally and said that France will participate with pleasure in the Congress.
