IUCN at the Forum

The IUCN pavilion in Hall 3 provides a space to meet and greet, follow regional and thematic presentations, as well as provide a hub to discover the wealth of knowledge the IUCN Water Programme will display in its publications corner.

IUCN will lead the Priority for Action “Promote Green Growth and Value Ecosystem Services”.

Further, IUCN will be involved in several technical sessions at the Forum, both presenting IUCN’s work, as well as in coordination roles for sessions related to Green Growth and Ecosystems Valuation, Water Governance and Environmental Flows and Integrated Water Resource Management.

Promote Green Growth and Value Ecosystem Services

IUCN leads the Priority for Action of “Promote Green Growth and Value Ecosystem Services”, aiming to find solutions, through building bridges among the economic, social and environmental dimensions of water.

Water is integral to the environmental and social systems that underpin the global economy. Yet, sustainable and equitable management of water is too often overlooked, and its benefits underestimated in economic development decisions.

The Priority for Action offers a bridge to the green economy focus in the Rio+20 Summit and hence, significantly, to raising the political and investment priority given to targets and solutions that will bring ecosystem benefits into the mainstream of economic decision making over water.

IUCN welcomes partners and Members to suggest or participate in Roundtable Dialogues at the IUCN Hub.

Twice daily roundtable discussions will focus on different themes and topics related to water resource solutions and provide a space to discuss new ideas and network.
