In particular, biodiversity is being threatened everywhere in the world, and species are disappearing at an unprecedented rate. Water and wastewater services companies impact the local ecosystems when withdrawing or discharging water into the environment. But biodiversity can also help us providing a better service by using and enhancing the natural functions of ecosystems. Therefore, the preservation of the ecological quality of the ecosystems in which water companies operate can be seen as an opportunity to improve both the quality and the functions of the resource and the environment.
