Objective 2: Deliverables
- Four surveys and in the field training expeditions were executed in in Egypt (Hurghada, Abu Dabab, Marsa Alam, Wadi Elba and Shalateen area).
- Scientific and ecological surveys were completed of 42 coastal and open sea reef sites.
- Three training workshops were held for coral reef monitoring and management for Egyptian managers and Tour operators.
- Produced a Global Methodology for Coral Reef Monitoring protocol in the context of Climate Change.
- Three international conference scientific presentations were made at the International Coral Reef Symposium Florida, the International Marine Conservation Congress in Washington, and the Regional Conference on Middle East Biodiversity in Jordan.
- Developed a United Nations Environment Program Working Group to integrate the results of this project into marine spatial planning and ecosystem based management to enhance management of Egyptian and Red Sea Reefs.
- Prepared two manuscripts for submission to international scientific journals
