The Forests Dialogue
The Forests Dialogue (TFD) is a group of individuals from diverse interests and regions that are committed to the conservation and sustainable use of forests. Through a shared understanding of forest issues from their own dialogues, members of The Forests Dialogue work together in a spirit of teamwork, trust, and commitment. They believe that their actions and relationships can help catalyze a broader consensus on forest issues and encourage constructive, collaborative action by individual leaders that will improve the condition and value of forests.

Ask FAO
Ask FAO lets users pose questions directly to experts in the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and also includes a searchable "knowledge base" of answers to frequently asked questions covering issues as varied as how to ask FAO for technical assistance to controlling bird flu to finding out national rates of deforestation.

FAO Forestry Facts and figures

Centre for International Forestry Research (CIFOR)

The Science and Development Network
The Science and Development Network (SciDev.Net) has a useful online resource that provides crucial data about the state of the world's biodiversity. This biodiversity 'facts and figures' section includes estimates of extinction threats, detailed assessments on the economic and ecological value of biodiversity and provides the latest information on conservation efforts.

The State of the World's Forests (SOFO)
The State of the World's Forests reports on the status of forests, recent major policy and institutional developments and key issues concerning the forest sector. Forest law enforcement and governance (FLEG)

FAO Best Practices
FAO's new Best Practices website serves as a one-stop source of technical information on recommended practices and techniques in food production, rural development, natural resource management and other areas. They also have a specific FAO FLEG website launched in July 2006.

Liberia Forest Initiative
The Liberia Forest Initiative (LFI) originated in early-2004 as an initiative led by the US State Department to provide coordinated support to the Liberian forestry sector. It engaged a number of US government agencies, including the US Forest Service, US Agency for International Development and the US Treasury Department, as well as non-governmental organisations such as Conservation International and the Environmental Law Institute. Later in 2004 and 2005, several multilateral organisations, including the World Bank, the European Commission (EC), the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Conservation Union (IUCN) joined the initiative, giving the LFI partnership a strong multilateral and multinational character.

The Forests and the European Union Resource Network (FERN)
FERN aims to achieve environmental and social justice, focusing on forests and forest peoples’ rights in the policies and practices of the European Union.

FLEGT beyond T - Exploring the meaning of 'Governance' concepts for the FLEGT process
A publication by Wageningen International and LEI (Wageningen University & Research Centre, The Netherlands), August 2008. ISBN: 978-90-8585-335-0

The FLEGT process is about the EU action plan on Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade. This study focuses on the Governance aspects of FLEGT and was commissioned by the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality (LNV) of the Netherlands. There is a need to gain more insight into the definitions of 'governance' which apply to the forest sector. To this end, it is useful to analyse and catalogue the most important and widely used definitions in order to help create a common understanding among national and international stakeholders. This publication is meant as a useful input to the discussion of the question of what governance could and/or should be within the framework of the FLEGT process and in the FLEGT partner countries.

Forest landscape restoration (FLR)

The Global Partnership on Forest Landscape Restoration
