Congo Basin Forest Partnership
The Congo Basin Forest Partnership (CBFP) is an open, non-hierarchical sub-regional forest governance body in the Congo Basin that aims to improve sustainable forest management and reduce poverty by increasing communication between stakeholders and strengthening coordination among projects, programmes and policies that involve or affect the forests of the Congo Basin.

African Forest Law Enforcement and Governance (AFLEG) Regional Process
The African Ministerial Conference on Forest Law Enforcement and Governance (FLEG) in April 2003 was an important opportunity to enhance the commitment of African governments to better forest governance and to develop an action plan that enjoyed to active involvement and according buy-in of civil society, including the private sector. IUCN has undertaken a number of activities to support the effective participation of diverse stakeholders in the regional AFLEG process including hosting three regional workshops where a self-selection process took place to elect representatives to participate in the Ministerial conference in April and organizing a preparatory workshop about FLEG in Africa for AFLEG participants from 11 countries inputs from African NGOs into the AFLEG process.

More recently, IUCN organized workshop to establish an AFLEG/Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade (FLEGT) Task Force geared toward the development of an action plan for implementing the Central Africa Forests Commission (COMIFAC) convergence plan.

The Forest Concession Monitoring System in Central Africa (FORCOMS)
The Forest Concession Monitoring System in Central Africa (FORCOMS) is a voluntary system that is being jointly funded and implemented by a consortium of partners including IUCN. FORCOMS aims both to support concession owners and operators in Central Africa to manage forests legally and sustainably, as well as to provide logging companies that are engaging in legal, sustainable and socially conscious forest management with a tool to communicate their compliance to the market and other stakeholders.
