• As Forest Governance issues remain a top priority, the Temperate and Boreal Forest Programme, TBFP, was involved in a project proposal development to the EC entitled: “Improving Forest Law Enforcement and Governance (FLEG) in the ENPI East plus Russia” (2008-2010).   • Translating Declaration into Action: Maintaining Momentum of the St.-Petersburg Declaration within the Context of Russia’s New Forest Code” Since early 2007, the Canadian Forest Service is financially helping the Temperate and Boreal Programme conduct a user needs assessment and analysis for forest inventory work as a contribution towards implementation of the new Russian Forest Code. The study will contribute to identifying both principles and practices for ensuring transparency in forest inventories and assessments, a key principle of the St Petersburg Declaration on illegal logging, which Canada has supported.   • "Developing and Implementing National Action Plans to Control Illegal Logging in ENPI Countries". This project is a follow up to the St-Petersburg ENA FLEG Ministerial Conference (2005). It aims to help develop, and initiate, the implementation of illegal logging action plans and priority actions at the national level countries in Europe and the Central Asian (ECA) region with their national action plans, based on the relative importance of forest governance issues, negotiations with the governments and coordination with other potential donors/financing agencies. Participating countries under the Program are: Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan. (To go to the IUCN Regional Office in Europe pages, click here.)
