The tools that will be promoted and transferred to restoration projects in the Lower Mekong Region through Livelihoods and Landscapes include GIS based land-use mapping and stakeholder consultation in forest landscape restoration planning, and assisted natural regeneration techniques that incorporate the “framework species method”. In the Lower Mekong Region, the Livelihoods and Landscapes will promote Non-Timber Forest Products (NTFP) based enterprises as well as coastal tourism opportunities by supporting an existing network of mangrove management organizations.
Lower Mekong region
Our work in the Lower Mekong Region: Cambodia, Lao PDR, Thailand and Vietnam
In the Lower Mekong Region, many restoration programmes and projects still do not adequately address good governance, equity, or biodiversity issues and consequently do not use a range of existing technical tools that can increase transparency and participation in decision-making and increase the potential biodiversity values of restored forests.
