New decisions are about to be made regarding the development of forests in the Papua and West Papua Provinces, located on the Western half of the Island of New Guinea. Livelihoods and Landscapes will work with all the stakeholders within a selected landscape and apply a range of tools to secure appropriate recognition of local forest tenure, implement sustainable forest management, community managed timber certification that is linked to existing markets and provides a platform for the participation of local stakeholders in planning, regulating and managing the new Forest Management Units.
