IUCN, the International Union for Conservation of Nature

The IUCN World Conservation Congress is the world’s largest and most important conservation event. Held every four years, it aims to improve how we manage our natural environment for human, social and economic development.

This year, the congress took place from 6 to 15 September in Jeju, Republic of Korea. The Congress brought together leaders from government, the public sector, non-governmental organizations, business, UN agencies and social organizations to discuss, debate and decide solutions for the world’s most pressing environment and development issues.

 Business presence at Congress was unprecedented. This year the Congress was attended by 6,400 individuals with over one hundred business representatives participating. Business participation was centered on the IUCN-WBCSD Business and Economy Pavilion and the Business and Ecosystem Think Tank, an event focused on real solutions for changing pace on biodiversity and ecosystem services. In addition, over eighty other events on various themes related to business and biodiversity took place during the first four days as part of the Forum.
