Low Carbon Future Debate at IUCN / Shell Steering Committee Meeting – November 2010

There is little debate that the world is facing a huge energy challenge.  Energy systems are changing and new entry points are emerging.  Concerns over climate change, energy security, and environmental impacts from fossil fuels are driving innovation and technology development in the energy sector and in energy policy.  Companies, NGOs, regulators, academics, and innovators are approaching these challenges from different, and frequently, divergent perspectives.

7th IUCN -Shell Steering Committee Meeting Report

The Shell  - IUCN Relationship Steering Committee met in Gland Switzerland on 4-5 November 2010.  The Steering Committee discussed " A Low Carbon Future".   Mr. Bill Spence (Shell) and Dr. Sue Mainka (IUCN) gave presentations on what each organization sees as the issue(s), the pertinent points regarding their organizations approach and outlook on the issue(s), and possible solutions that they see as part of the way forward.

6th Steering Committee Meeting Report

The IUCN - Shell Relationship Steering Committee met in The Hague, Netherlands on 11 June 2010.  The IUCN – Shell partnership review was discussed at length, with the discussions focusing on: a presentation by Mr. Stephen Turner, the consultant hired to undertake the review, and unanimous appreciation for Stephen Turner and his work from the Steering Committee.

The IUCN - Shell Relationship Steering Committee met in The Hague, Netherlands on 8 December, 2009. The Steering Committee reviewed progress within the partnership, including current projects and potential upcoming projects, with a special opportunity to get updates from project leaders.

4th Steering Committee Meeting Report

 The Shell - IUCN Relationship Steering Committee met in Gland, Switzerland on 15 July, 2009. The Steering Committee reviewed progress within the partnership, including current projects and potential upcoming projects and issues. The meeting provided excellent feedback to the two Relationship Managers, very lively discussions between and amongst the two parties, and provided a very focused approach for the partnership to continue to influence both organizations in significant ways.

The Steering Committee reviewed progress within the partnership, on current projects, and potential projects put forth by either Party. The meeting provided excellent feedback to the two Relationship Managers and laid the groundwork for the partnership to continue to influence biodiversity enhancement in Shell and business skills delivery to IUCN.
