About IUCN Regional Office for West Asia (ROWA)

IUCN Regional Office for West Asia (ROWA) was established in October 2004 covering the region of West Asia, Central Asia and North Africa (WESCANA).

In June 2007, the regionalization and decentralization of IUCN resulted in a more manageable and coherent geography for the (WESCANA) region. The new region now referred to as West Asia covers 13 countries which include: Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Palestine, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Oman, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Iraq and Iran.

We have great potential, and are excited about our many possibilities for collaboration, scientific research, and action, in cooperation with our members, partners, commissions and donors to shape and define future directions.

IUCN ROWA is delighted to have you visit our homepage. We invite you to follow the links to learn about the IUCN West Asia region, to see where we are heading, to learn more about what's happening in our region and thematic programmes, and to contribute to discussions on future directions.

Remember, IUCN is about you, and all of the people interested in this dynamic and unique part of the world!
