Our Work

The Programme of the IUCN Caribbean Initiative for 2009 – 2012 reflects priority needs and opportunities identified by IUCN Caribbean members. It incorporates thematic areas where IUCN can add significant value to existing efforts in the region. Programmes and projects are regional in scope and every effort is being made to work with all countries of the insular Caribbean across linguistic and political groupings.

IUCN Caribbean programme results will feed into other IUCN programmes such as the Regional Action Plan of the World Commission on Protected Areas (WCPA) and the Global Islands Partnership. Collaboration with the IUCN programmes and partners in Oceania and other island regions will also be encouraged.
