ACUNA – Society for Culture and Nature (Asociación para la Cultura y la Naturaleza)

The NGO ACUNA was established in 2006 by a group of about twenty researchers and activists from several organizations and institutions of the Spanish region of Extremadura. ACUNA members have a broad experience in several disciplines, including archaeology, history, ecology, wildlife management and conservation, as well as geography and socio-economics. The multidisciplinary nature of the ACUNA team allows for a highly integrative working group, which is active on most aspects related to the conservation of the natural and cultural heritage of Extremadura.

ADPM - Association for the Defense of Mértola’s Heritage (Associação de Defesa do Património de Mértola)

ADPM was founded in 1980 with the objective of promoting rural development and environment conservation in the Municipality of Mértola (Alentejo, Portugal) and the wider region. Nowadays, ADPM is one of Portugal largest and best-known NGOs, with a team of 30 professional staff, and a multidisciplinary programme including rural environment, education, training and support to employment, social intervention, international cooperation, biodiversity conservation and management of natural resources.

AIGAE - Italian Association of Professional Nature and Walking Guides (Associazione Italiana Guide Ambientali Escursionistiche)

AIGAE was established in 1992 as an independent institution with the mission to develop and enhance the training, skills and reputation of nature and hiking guides who wished to upgrade their qualification and see their profession recognised at the national and international levels. Nowadays, AIGAE is a professional organisation gathering and representing an ever-increasing number of Italian nature and hiking guides and operators, who offer their services in the natural and mountain regions of their country, Europe, and further afield.

AFDC - the Association for Forests, Development and Conservation, was founded in 1993 with the objective of achieving sustainable conservation of natural resources, raise awareness and build capacities to contribute to the national efforts for better environmental management. Since its foundation, AFDC has been growing steadily, and it has become a reference in the areas of forest management and conservation, fire prevention and fighting, rural development, and environmental education in Lebanon, and the whole Middle East.

AL-SHOUF CEDAR SOCIETY

The Al-Shouf Cedar Society (ACS) is a non governmental organization which was established in 1994, with the specific objective of helping establish and managing the Al-Shouf Cedar Nature Reserve (ACR). The core mission of ACS is the conservation of the natural and cultural heritage of the Shouf Biosphere Reserve, in cooperation with the local community, through the development and implementation of environmental, awareness and eco-tourism activities.

COGECSTRE

The COGECSTRE co-operative was founded in the town of Penne (Abruzzo, Central Italy) in January 1980. Since 1987, it manages the Nature Reserve of Lake Penne, which is part of the network of protected areas set up by WWF-Italy. Over the years, COGECSTRE has turned into a well-known reference when it comes to the management of protected areas in Abruzzo, and in the whole of Italy.

ILEX – Italian Landscape Exploration

ILEX is a private company promoted by a restricted group of educators and researchers under the leadership of Alessio di Giulio, former Head of Education at WWF Italy. ILEX has its headquarters in the small village of Fontecchio, located within the Velino-Sirente Natural Park, in the inland Italian region of Abruzzo.

LIPU – Italian League for the Protection of Birds (Lega Italiana Protezione Uccelli)

LIPU is the Italian partner of BirdLife International, the most important network of organizations for the conservation of birds. LIPU strives to protect wildlife with a particular focus on wild birds and their habitats, and works for the conservation of biodiversity, the growth of public awareness and environmental education, and the sustainable use of natural resources.

MEA - Mouvement Ecologique Algerien

The M.E.A. is a development association working in the field of environmental protection and conservation, and in the field of poverty alleviation, which is the main cause of environmental degradation. MEA is formed by a group of experts with know-how and interest in different scientific areas, ENDA, CRIC (Regional Center for International Response).
