Málaga acoge el estreno de “Un mar cambiante”, la primera película documental sobre la acidificación de los océanos

Con motivo de la celebración del Día Mundial de los Océanos el 8 de junio, Málaga acoge el estreno de “Un mar cambiante” la primera película documental sobre la acidificación de los océanos. Esta actividad se enmarca dentro del Convenio para la conservación de la fauna y flora del litoral malagueño firmado entre el Área de Medio Ambiente del Ayuntamiento de Málaga, Aula del Mar y con la colaboración de UICN-Med. Proyecciones de “Un mar cambiante” se realizarán en Europa, Australia, Norte América, Hawai y en diversas ciudades de España como parte de esta importante celebración.

Lebanese Council of Ministers approves the new National Forest Fires Strategy supported by IUCN-Med

Lebanon´s well known and unique Cedrus libani forests have been the object of a constant quest to control the access and trade of its valuable timber for millennia. A new national strategy, supported by IUCN-Med was approved on 15 May by the Council of Ministers. This strategy  integrates the need for adapting to climate change in order to reduce the risk of harmful fires and build ecological and social resilience to the impacts of global change. As project leader, this is a significant achievement for IUCN-Med and places it in an excellent position for the implementation phase.  | Spanish

The IUCN Centre for Mediterranean Cooperation participates in an international seminar for cooperation in managing protected areas

The seminar, which was organised by CEIDA (Centre for Continuing Education and the Dissemination of Environmental Information of Galicia), was held in the Santa Cruz Castle in Oleiros (A Coruña) from 26 to 27 March and was attended by the Spanish Liaison Officer of IUCN-Med, Andrés Alcántara. Holcim Spain and the Centre for Mediterranean Cooperation of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN-Med) sign an agreement to develop initiatives for the protection of the environment and biodiversity

The objective of this cooperation agreement between the Centre for Mediterranean Cooperation of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN-Med) and Holcim Spain is to develop a series of short-term joint activities and to establish a future collaboration framework in order to begin new conservation and restoration projects of the natural surroundings affected by the industrial activities of the company. The primary aim of the agreement, which has been given a budget of 18,000 euro and is of 6 months duration, is to advise Holcim as to how to adequately integrate ecological and social aspects when setting into action a Comprehensive Restoration Plan for the quarry of the cement factory in Torredonjimeno,located near Jaén (Spain).     …   | French | Spanish
